EVENT STEWARDS NEEDED

Be part of the public face of Cambridge Literary Festival and help us to welcome thousands of visitors to enjoy the foremost literary festival in the East of England. We host three festivals each year: our Spring Festival is our biggest festival and takes place over six days in April, our Winter Festival takes place on the last weekend of November, and our brand new Wimpole History Festival in partnership with the National Trust takes place in June. We also host many solo one-off events throughout the year, so we are always looking for stewards to help out.

WHAT DO EVENT STEWARDS DO?

Stewards are essential to the smooth running of festival events. As an Event Steward, you will work with a team of other volunteers and your Head Steward to ensure that audiences fully enjoy the festival. Stewards’ tasks may include setting up venues, directing audiences, managing book-signing queues, distributing programmes, manning the Green Room and keeping venues tidy. Shifts are usually 4 – 5 hours long, and we ask that you do a minimum of two shifts.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

In addition to the fun of stewarding, you will be allowed attend festival events for free when you are not on duty, providing the event(s) has not sold out. Please note, if you are keen to attend any particular events, please do NOT sign up to steward them as stewarding duties may mean that you will be unable to watch events.

BRIEFING SESSION FOR NEW STEWARDS

There will be a short induction and training session for stewards before they volunteer with us, which all new stewards must attend before they can volunteer with us. This will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 22 November (central Cambridge, venue tbc).

FESTIVAL DATES

The festival runs from Friday 24 November - Sunday 26 November. (If you're not available for the whole weekend, do let us know what days and times you can do).
