Kettle’s Yard is seeking a full-time Learning and Engagement Officer to join our growing Programme Team at this exciting time in the organisation’s history. This integral role will lead on all aspects of the Learning Programmes, as part of an integrated programme team of exhibitions, learning, community, research and music, to ensure that we are delivering at the highest levels of excellence and ambition.

Learning and Engagement Officer will take the lead on developing the Learning programme in line with strategic planning. S/he will ensure that Kettle’s Yard continues to develop and create opportunities for the widest range of audiences to engage in innovative activities inspired by the collection and exhibitions. This includes programmes for schools and colleges; young people; families; community groups and adult audiences through public programmes, interpretation and targeted projects. S/he will supervise the Assistant Education Officer, additional Learning project staff and the large pool of artist facilitators with whom Kettle’s Yard regularly works.

The successful applicant will have proven experience of devising and delivering learning programmes in a gallery setting and knowledge and enthusiasm for the visual arts. They will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Kettle’s Yard is an ambitious organisation with a busy programme and it is vital that the successful candidate is driven, self-motivated and able to work flexibly and in a fast-paced environment.

This maternity cover post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Kettle's Yard is the University of Cambridge's modern and contemporary art gallery. Kettle's Yard is a beautiful house with a remarkable collection of modern art as well as a gallery that hosts modern and contemporary art exhibitions. It has an international reputation for its outreach programmes which includes concerts of new and classical music and an extensive and diverse programme of learning and community activities.  It attracts over 70,000 visitors a year, with 7,000 participants in our Learning and Community programmes. In 2015 Kettle's Yard closed for a major building project and will re-open in early 2018.
