Title of position advertised
Fitzwilliam Museum: Documentation Assistant (Fixed Term to 31 March 2018)

You will work as part of the Documentation team within the Central Services Division, reporting to the Documentation Manager, but working closely with staff across the Collections and Conservation Divisions. A particular focus will be on helping address the retrospective accessioning backlog in the department of Coins and Medals and it is envisaged that the post-holder will spend a large proportion of their time working with this department.

Records are held in a variety of formats but since 1999 the Museum has worked on the creation of a unified database of object records to improve management of the collections and give greater access to information about them. The online database currently holds over 200,000 records. In addition to individual object records the Fitzwilliam has started to add archive material to the database and this, along with the storage of digital assets, will be an increasingly important aspect of the documentation work within the Museum.

Offers of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory outcome of a Security check. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University

Please click on the link in the ‘Apply online’ button on the advert published on the University’s Job Opportunities pages This will route you to the University’s Web Recruitment System, where you will need to register an account (if you have not already) and log in before completing the online application form.
