Various art forms

Rowan Hawitt is currently in her third year reading Music at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and studies saxophone with Christian Forshaw at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with the generous support of a Cross Trust scholarship. As an advocate for contemporary music, Rowan aims to demonstrate the versatility of her instrument whilst supporting the works of her peers and colleagues: over the past year, she has given the world premieres of six works for saxophone, in prestigious venues such as West Road Concert Hall and St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh.

During her time at university, she has undertaken work as a Britten Sinfonia Student, assisting in Marketing for the orchestra, and in outreach projects with the Cambridge music faculty. As President of her college music society, Rowan has extensive experience in managing ensembles and promoting concerts, and has co-founded several ensembles during her time in Cambridge.  In the future, Rowan hopes to continue performing and participating in outreach and charity work, bringing music to communities which would otherwise have little opportunity to hear it. She hopes she can continue to promote the virtues of music, whilst benefiting from the personal joy it brings her.
