Education / Participation

As Arts Development Officer at Cambridge City Council, I am responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the council’s Arts Strategy.  This includes acting as strategy officer for a number of Cambridge arts organisations and groups, advising on arts applications to the Community Development Fund and supporting thematic partnerships such as the children and young people focused project My Cambridge.

Projects I have managed or supported include the Inspire Mark programmes Chance to Dance Festival, Walk Cambridge and the Disability Arts and Sports Festival, a city-wide month long inclusive programme of events and activities for people with sensory or physical disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health service users and people undergoing rehabilitation and recovery.  I also coordinated and co-commissioned Inspiring Cambridgeshire, a documentary film to promote and celebrate the wide variety of arts, sports and cultural events that were inspired by 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

I am responsible for coordinating the Cambridge Arts Network (CAN), a forum of over 1000 professional artists, arts and cultural organisations operating in Cambridge and the surrounding area. The network hosts an annual arts conference in Cambridge to debate and discuss key issues that face the sector, alongside organising workshops, skill-sharing sessions, monthly informal meet-ups and producing a regular e-newsletter.  The aims of CAN are to enable networking, disseminate relevant information, raise the profile of artists, practitioners and organisations in Cambridge and to create a collective and united voice to champion the arts.

Prior to the launch of Cambridge Live, I worked as part of the Arts & Events team responsible for delivering major public events including Big Weekend (Cambridge’s flagship free community event), Cambridge Folk Festival, the Olympic Torch Relay and related activities to ensure that diverse local communities enjoy access to and engage in cultural activities.

As an artist, my work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally at venues including the Australian Centre for Photography, Sydney; Centre for Contemporary Culture, Barcelona; Kaunas Museum, Lithuania; Galleri Image: Centre for Photography, Denmark; Fragaki Centre for Art & Design, Athens; School of Architecture and Urbanism, Romania and Baiyan Forest Park, China.
