Matilde Monteiro Pais, born in 1983, started playing with words when she first learned how to draw and sing them, having won the 1st Poetry Award organized by “Centro Internazionale Amici Scuola - Clube UNESCO” (1992). She graduated at the Law School of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) but it was as editor and writer of the student’s newspaper where she devoted most of the time and had the greater joy. Therefore, she continued writing, having participated in script, cinema writing and creative writing workshops. Recently wrote a children’s book for her son and nieces, illustrated by her artist mother and is now looking for publishers.

After working in Brussels, in the European institutions (European Commission and Portuguese Permanent Representation to the EU), she co-founded think tank Contraditório, where she is vice- president and researcher (Education and Culture).

Her MSc in Applied Music Psychology at Roehampton University (London, UK, 2013) was a way to search the music Matilde was exploring since her childhood. She finished the 6th grade (out of 8) of the flute’s studies in the Lisbon Metropolitan Conservatory of Music and had the chance to play in solo, chamber music, big band and orchestra. She always sung in different choirs and is currently singing at Trinity Singers (Cambridge).

Since 2014 Matilde is living in Cambridge (UK) where she is volunteering as a reporter and creating a new programme together with other people at Cambridge 105, the community radio and as a future broadcaster at Radio Addenbrooke´s, a hospital radio station. She is also starting
as a General Assistant to Creative Movements (Story, Movement, Arts and crafts for children) in Cambridge.
