Visual Arts

Gallery 9 is a new and active working artist studio building and gallery space in the heart of Cambridge, developed in conjunction with CB2 restaurant and cafe.

The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday 11:00-17:00 or by appointment by emailing

Our current resident artists include:

Peter Hawksby
Interplay of tensions between the picture plane and spatial illusions inspired by architecture.

Eleanor Breeze
Eleanor’s practice is rooted in painting, which she sees as a means of archiving and recording important information. She is currently working on a series of paintings which explore familiar domestic interiors, how the character of a place changes after loss, and the nature of memory, objects and relics. In September 2017 she will be participating in the New Contemporaries 2017 exhibition, which will be touring to Newcastle and London.

Maggie Scott
Currently studying for an MA in Fine Art in Cambridge, Maggie Scott’s oil and watercolour paintings are developed from drawings and photographs. They attempt to capture both the ephemeral delicacy and the enduring strength of flora by exploring scale and colour. Unique monoprints and carborundum prints employ ink and gold leaf to echo land, sea and skyscapes.

Paul Arsenault
Anchored in painting, Paul’s work is strongly influenced by the narratives of daily life. He
is fascinated by human interaction and how these interactions, combined with the notions of human identity, community and nonconformity, contribute to the evolution of society. Paul’s paintings are an investigation of curious, often overlooked social circumstances, utilized as an attempt to gain a more personal understanding of the human experience. The use of humor, bold colors, and quirky imagery softens the work, allowing an easier visual approach to difficult subjects.

Paul’s current work investigates where his own disposition resides, within the spheres of conformity and nonconformity; as we enter an unparalleled time of divisiveness and personal expression.

Artist Activist
The Female Voice of War and Peace.

In this modern world, how can we learn when we are not told the truth about the sheer desolation of wars, either historically or currently?
