Fund title
The Dosoco Foundation - foundation funding for music projects

Deadline
09/05/2016

The Dosoco Foundation - Cambridge’s newest music foundation launched by The Dowsing Sound Collective and supporting local projects using music for social good - is open for applications for its fourth round of funding.

Organisations, families and individual young people are all encouraged to take part and applications can be as creative as possible.  Our Foundation can contribute up to 50% towards project costs. The main rules are that the projects have to take place in Cambridgeshire, that they must be new ideas, and that they absolutely must use music to make a positive impact on people’s lives where help is really needed.

As a guideline, we’re really keen to hear from music projects in four areas outlined below – please note that these are just examples and the musical world is your oyster!

  • music education - e.g. looking to launch a novel programme in your school to teach music differently to students that struggle with conventional music teaching, or working with an exceptionally talented music student with either physical, social or learning disabilities looking to develop their talent in new ways?
  • music access - how about setting up a music club for groups that might struggle to start something themselves?
  • music innovation – i.e. got any bright ideas using a Raspberry Pi that could help disabled people make music, or ideas for how sound could be used to help people interact with music in a different way?
  • Music therapy – looking to set up a new after school programme for your students or got an idea for a way that music can be used to support positive mental health?

We also have some specific funds available to support young musicians and we are particularly keen to hear from talented young people who would benefit from financial support for their music making.

Grants are available for up to £1000 (for organisations) and up to £300 (for individuals). The closing date for applications is Monday 9th May and awards will be announced by end of June.  Don’t leave it until the last minute!!
